For Olumide-
I knew you were my earth
Knew in your arms I could crumble and still be Queen
Your hands balme
Fighting demons that circle our feet
I often watch you sleep
Notice the Afrobeat curves and edges of your beautiful face
Strong like Olumo rock
You carry Yoruba warrior blood
In your veins
I can weather the Harmattan
Gorgeous Asoke from Abeokuta dresses sticking like plastic to my skin soiled by different suns
My stomach can burn from the inside stinging sweetness of suya
And I will tolerate the wahala driving of crazy Lagos streets
Even though it’s been 87600 hours we have been together
I still smile
And say
YES
A million times when you ask me
In the morning
